Jacket and jeans and a cocktail dress, as we run away
From the rigamortis of grindstone blues
And all I'll ever ask of you
Is please, lead me home, tonight.

There's life in this heart of mine,
Silver and cold, by design
So used to a myriad
Of lies, excuses and flash trend fads
But a cocktail of JD and fun
Should wake me up, 'cause fuck it, I'm done

A Day in Your LifeBlasting out of speakerphones
The tannoy system blare
It grates on the ears, and distorts your mind
In the low sunrise glare.
Constant white noise wakes you
And grinds you into life
Animates the static body
And sharpens the blunted knife
You motion into action
Process, not the outcome,
Sudoku on the tin can train
And a McDonald's fix for one.
Tick box, tick box, tick box, tick box
Check list, check list, check list.
Done, done, and onto the next one
No time for chances missed.

And in brief moments
You slip out of sync
In the brief spasms of free mind
You stop grinding and you think,
Of the pointscoring in the Great Hall,
Retro RainwaterNostalgia and boredom
Bleeds into the atmosphere
And I can't see a way
Past sunrise

As the shadows lengthen into shapes
That cloak us in our fear
And shroud our progress into
The depths of life

For I feel obliged to report
That I'm still chained to this post
Stuck in the ground at the exact
Point of collapse

Rainwater chills me to my bone
And memories cloud my mind
Pinning me down, into
A token relapse.

Because I've no idea about you, my dear
But I'm still stuck in reverse
Wanting to relive a childhood
Yet to cease

One that passed us by with no surprise
And a lack of joy de vivre
And a mindset of self destruction

Midnight RoadI walk these streets,
Alone,
Far away from a place,
Called home.
Nothing to see here,
All life is extinct.

Here in the night,
I'm all alone,
With just thoughts, and,
No place to go.
Directionless,
Wistfull nothingness.

Through the clouds,
Come the stars.
Free from the grip,
Of iron bars.
I've signed my name,
To fight this war, in vein.

And I'm damn near drowning,
In emotion,
Willing me on, to self,
Destruction.
Sank to my knees,
Laid bare, in the midnight breeze

I'm throwing my gloves down
Toss aside my crown
Energy seeps into the ground
Frostbite, perish and drown.
The Streetlight RenaissanceI'm jumping,
A spring breeze is blowing
Though the dusty regions of my heart
Left to rot from the very start

Of this new-found age of skepticism
That's left me blind, to the joyous wonder
Of sunshine dreams, moonlit fantasies
A soul to yearn for, and grow ever fonder

I had no reason to believe
Fed up of exhausted reprieves
The suffocating acid of naked obsession
And the crush of being no more than a possession

That left me shattered, lifeless on the floor
Sitting, watching emotion trickle down the drain
Questioning own existence under the stars
And vowing: To Never Fall In Love Again.

Easier said than done,
And so, as the set
Movement in TransitWhere did all the time go?
We lost it when we were free to roam,
Letting all the good times roll,
Away, to a place, far away from here,

Oh, where did all the love go?
Words sting with barbed suspicion
Come, let's free our minds from this old grey nightmare
And learn the lost art of escapism.
